Maybelline is one of the most widely worn beauty brands in the world, built on bringing professional-grade makeup within everyday reach. Cloudtopia is its mousse foundation: a whipped, air-light formula designed to sit on the skin as weightlessly as it looks in the jar. The name is the promise — a product engineered to feel like nothing at all.
Norte Studio brought me in to define the look and feel of the film and to carry the heaviest craft in it: animation and the simulation work the piece is built on. The idea was to take the name literally — if the formula behaves like a cloud, the film should too. I developed the cloud and vortex systems that give the product its weightless character, along with the liquid simulations, and shaped the lighting and materials so the texture reads as aerated and soft rather than dense.
